Ms. Maier has primary responsibility for Bushnell, Caplan & Fielding, LLP’s criminal practice based on her experience as a public defender with Santa Clara County. Ms. Maier has won more than two-thirds of her misdemeanor and felony jury trials, while the average defense lawyer can expect to win only about 10% of felony trials and 30% of misdemeanor trials (statistics taken from Santa Clara County). She has also served as a panelist on the San Francisco Criminal Court Conflicts Panel, and has additional experience practicing criminal law in Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo, and Marin Counties. During her four years of practice at the Santa Clara County Public Defender’s Office, Ms. Maier specialized in juvenile criminal defense, mental health, and domestic violence cases.
